Intonation Assignment in Text-to-Speech Synthesis

چکیده
Introduction The basis of the Essex-Bristol tts intonation model lies in both linguistics and acoustics/aerodynamics. Our underlying principle is that in the human being there are physical processes intrinsic to the overall speech mechanism and that some of these processes are open to cognitive representation – such that they are able to enter into the domain of language processing. Three types of intrinsic physical process are recognised:

Study on Unit-Selection and Statistical Parametric Speech Synthesis Techniques
One of the interesting topics on multimedia domain is concerned with empowering computer in order to speech production. Speech synthesis is granting human abilities to the computer for speech production. Data-based approach and process-based approach are the two main approaches on speech synthesis. Each approach has its varied challenges. Unit-selection speech synthesis and statistical parametr...
متن کاملPhonological Processing for Urdu Text to Speech System
Determining and modeling phonological phenomena is necessary to generate speech from textual input. These phenomena include letter to sound conversion, syllabification, sound change, stress assignment and intonation assignment. This paper presents work on Urdu phonological processes and provides algorithms to convert textual input into phonologically annotated output, required for Urdu text-to-...
متن کاملAn Infrastructure for Turkish Prosody Generation in Text-to-Speech Synthesis
Text-to-speech engines benefit from natural language processing while generating the appropriate prosody. In this study, we investigate the natural language processing infrastructure for Turkish prosody generation in three steps as pronunciation disambiguation, phonological phrase detection and intonation level assignment. We focus on phrase boundary detection and intonation assignment. We prop...
متن کاملAutomatic synthesis of natural-sounding intonation for text-to-speech conversion in dutch
A set of rules is proposed for the automatic synthesis of natural-sounding intonation as part of speech synthesis in Dutch from unrestricted text. Results of a formal perceptual evaluation show that the synthetic intonation is judged to be as natural as human intonation for isolated utterances; for texts, additional provisions are required to model contributions of text structure. It is suggest...
متن کاملProsodic models and speech synthesis: towards the common ground
Prosodic models have been extensively applied in speech synthesis. However, the necessity of synthesizing prosody has as yet not resulted in a generally agreed upon approach to prosodic modeling. This statement holds for the assignment of segmental durations as well as for generating F0 curves, the acoustic correlate of intonation contours. This paper concentrates on the use and usability of in...
